The likelihood of seeing camels in Chorley is very very slim or so I thought until we drove by some in the field while on the Motorway.

It turns out they are part of a circus act and the circus is set up some where near the motorway. All I could think of was ...I wonder what they do with the camel fibre and wouldn't it be wonderful if you were a spinner to have access to this fibre. You know that you are spinner when .... you think too much about spinning............
I like your thought processes ... do people spin camel fibre? Is there enough to spin?
ReplyDeleteYeap camel fibre is used. The best quality fibre is the soft undercoat. The Camel undercoat tends to get mixed with wool to make expensive clothing items. The rough outer coat fibre from camels has traditionally been felted to make utilitarian items.
ReplyDeleteSince the camels were looking so neatly kept with no summer straggly bits I was thinking that they had been groomed and if so someone had opportunities to nab the fibre.
